Devils Hole/ Niagra Gorge Trail- This gorgeous hike takes you along the Niagra rapids. Get up close and personal with their incredible strength. Make sure to follow the trail down to the flat rocks This is a beautiful place to lay out on a sunny day and depending on the water level you may be graced with some shallow pools to cool off in. Just be sure to stay FAR from the ledge.
Watkins Glen- This park includes 400 foot descends past 200-foot cliffs. There are 19 waterfalls along its trail. This trail offers 360 views of the falls as in winds over and under the waterfalls cavern. If you're an avid fisher check out Seneca lake while you're in the area. Nearby Catherine Creek is known for its annual spring run of rainbow trout.
Panama Rocks- This is a great park to get lost in. you can stay on path or wander off-trail for some fun rock scrambling. Panama Rocks is also close to Chautauqua so while your there make sure to check out the lake or enjoy some waterfront dining.
Griffis Sculpture Park- Wander up hills and through the woods to discover some amazing works of art. Giant statues emerge around every corner as well as some interactive art pieces. This beautiful park is located near Ellicottville, a beautiful town full of boutiques, breweries and ski slopes.
Eternal Flame- Depending on where you're located this may not be considered a day trip for you but definitely a trail worth checking out. This hike starts as a shaded walk through the woods with an ascent into the creek beds. eventually, you dead-end into a beautiful waterfall. This shale waterfall has a grotto behind the water that emits natural gas. When lit it creates a beautiful sight flicking behind the falling water.
Niagra on the lake- Take a quick hop over the border to enjoy an immaculate selection of 88 different wineries. While you're there be sure to visit Wayne Gretzky Estates where you can enjoy wine and whiskey tastings as well as food and craft cocktails at the whiskey bar or beer garden.
Lake Erie Wine Country- Located in Chautauqua county, this is the largest grape-growing region east of the Rockies. Lake Erie's grape belt has over 30,000 vineyard acres along a 50-mile wine trail, which includes 23 wineries.
Lily Dale- This new age town is a one-stop-shop for all your spiritual needs. With a year-round population of 275 people, most locals consider themselves mediums, psychics or healers. You can book an appointment to see a local shaman or attend one of the many seminars/workshops.
Herkimer Diamond Mines- Here you can mine your own diamonds with the choice of turning them into a custom piece of jewelry before taking them home. There are many ways to stay for your adventure, including treehouses, camping, and cabins.
